Astrology begins with a simple idea: the sky at the moment you were born creates a kind of celestial snapshot. The Sun, Moon, planets, asteroids, and other points were all positioned in particular signs and houses, forming relationships with one another called aspects. Astrologers read those placements as symbols—each one describing a different part of your personality, instincts, desires, challenges, gifts, relationships, and the way you move through the world. But a birth chart is more than a list of separate meanings. Everything in it works together, creating patterns and themes that are unique to you. Astrology doesn’t have to mean that the planets are controlling your life; instead, you can think of the chart as a map or a language for describing the energies you arrived with.
